A new creative outlet

I admit it! I'm over 50 and proud of it! Of course I'm not halfway to 60 yet so I can still claim the half century mark for wit and wisdom without the stigma of outdatedness (I hope!). But as I age and become more comfortable and secure in myself and my ideas of what's best for me (yes - it really does happen), I find that I need more ways to learn, new ways to express myself,

different things to try, unfamiliar locales to visit -- all the while still reveling in a stressfree boring day! What a conundrum! New and exciting or peaceful, boring, familiar. How to mix them up and have it all?

Is it possible to pick the type of stress we thrive in? Sadly, no. The minute harrassments of everyday life - ranging from family responsibilities to bureaucratic idiocies await us at every turn. But if we can plod through them, the day of sunshine, butterflies, and no hassles is that much sweeter. I often tell my kids that boring is not necessarily bad - that sometimes it's as necessary for sanity as excitement and drama.

So I'm happy to (finally) be sharing a wonderfully boring day with you by starting this new outlet for my thoughts and ideas! What joy there is in simple things if we have the time and chance to enjoy them!
